Marion County Schools invites parents to a meeting concerning the district wellness policy on March 16, 2023, at 3:30 PM. The meeting is to be held at the Marion County Board of Education office, 188 Winchester Drive, Hamilton, AL.
Healthy choices at school help keep our students healthy and ready to learn. The wellness policy helps our schools create an action plan for nutrition and physical activity at school. Parents can share feedback to help ensure the policy is meeting the needs of the students.

THANK YOU!!!

Due to our bus riders not being able to take items such as balloons, stuffed animals, glass, flowers, etc. on the buses because of safety reasons and in order to be fair to all students, we WILL NOT be taking Valentine’s Day deliveries at HES on February 14th. However, parents may, with teacher permission, send individually wrapped, store-bought treats and/or Valentine’s cards to school. We will not be having class parties, just regular snack with the addition of Valentine’s treats if teacher approved. Thanks for understanding as we strive to be fair to all of our students!

HES will hold Kindergarten Preregistration for students entering Kindergarten in the 2023-24 school-year on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in order to register to attend Kindergarten in the 2023-24 school-year, a child must turn the age of 5 on or before September 1, 2023. Proof of immunizations, proof of residence, custody papers if applicable, and a copy of the child’s birth certificate will be required on the day of Preregistration.
Current Kindergarten students will not attend school on April 14 because the K teachers will be involved in the Preregistration process.
Thanks.

Reminder,
Students will return to school tomorrow, January 3, 2023.
Also, some of our bus numbers have changed due to obtaining new buses for some of our Hamilton bus routes. Bus 08-11 will now be bus 23-11, bus 08-13 will now be bus 23-8, and bus 07-2 will now be bus 23-2.
Thanks

Parents, the picture with this post shows the importance of why students need to attend school on a regular and consistent basis. In order to try to boost our attendance which in turn will boost our students’ academic success, HES will implement the following incentives beginning January 3, 2023:
Perfect attendance (no absences, tardies, or check ins/outs)
Month of January = 15 minutes of recess
January/February = Popcorn Party
January/ February/March = Glow Party in Gym
January thru May = Pizza Party
Please help your child earn these incentives for attendance by having him/her at school on time each day.
Thank you

Reminder: School will dismiss today at 12 p.m. for all students. Thank you and we hope you enjoy the break with your children. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 3rd.

We have some very positive news to share about HES. First, our school recently scored an 88 on its State Report Card—2nd highest of all Marion County Schools and above the State Average in all areas. Our goal is to have an A next year. Second, our Show Choir just finished several amazing performances of Disney’s Frozen Kids. Third, our teachers and students will be celebrating our most recent Star Assessment scores as they showed much promise on our journey to becoming and sustaining an academically elite school. To celebrate, our teachers and students will be spending some fun time together this Friday by having a fun snack and enjoying a morning of fun activities! Thank you!

The Disney’s Frozen Kids performance scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight at HES will go on as planned. We will have law enforcement on site as a precaution even though the threat earlier today turned out to be a hoax. Thank you!

HES AfterSchool Program Parents, we will have our AfterSchool program today. As a precaution, we will have law enforcement patrolling the area to keep eyes on things. We don’t believe there’s any reason to fear having your child on campus this afternoon, but if you prefer that your child ride the bus or be picked up at the end of the regular school day, call the office asap to let us know. Thanks!

Attention HES parents, law enforcement has lifted the hard lockdown and our campus will resume normal activities. However, law enforcement will remain on campus through at least lunch and our classrooms and other buildings will remain locked. Thanks!

We will provide updates throughout the day relative to our lockdown situation! Again, all kids are safe!
