HES parents, the lunch visits where you have been making prior appointments with your child's teacher have been going very well with the exception of one issue. Some of you have been bringing in outside lunches for yourself and/or your child. That is perfectly ok as long as the items are packaged in containers containing no restaurant logos. Also, if you were to bring a soft drink or such, the label would need to be removed or covered up. These are USDA lunchroom guidelines that we have no control over but need you to adhere to. Thanks for your help and for taking the time to visit your child at school.

Parents of students who are going on the Explore Alabama/Georgia field trip on May 8-12, 2023 will have a mandatory meeting in the HES library at 5:30 pm on Monday, April 24th. Parents need to bring their child's health insurance card and any information concerning medical conditions. There will be paperwork that needs to be filled out and signed at the meeting. Details about the trip will also be provided. Once again, this meeting is only for the parents of the 4th grade students who have paid to go on the trip. Thanks.

No School for students April 7 & 10
HES parents/guardians may setup an appointment with their child's teacher to come and have lunch with their child at school. There will be a limit of two children per class per day that will be allowed to have guests on campus for lunch. The home room teachers will be your contact to setup an appointment for lunch with your child. Each child will be limited to having two adult parents/guardians join them for lunch. Each child will only be allowed guests for lunch one time between now and the end of school. We ask 4th grade parents/guardians to wait until April 24 and later (after ACAP testing) to setup a time to have lunch with their child. Guests are asked to arrive at the beginning of their child's lunch period and to leave campus immediately when the lunch period ends. This is something we are going to try in order to involve parents more. If everyone cooperates fully, we hope to continue it next school-year as well. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on campus soon.

HES 2nd and 3rd grade students will be taking the ACAP State Assessments this week. It is very important that your child arrives to school each day well rested, fed (can eat breakfast in the lunchroom if needed by arriving to school between 7:25 and 7:45), and on-time. Students who arrive to school after the assessments begin will not be allowed in the testing rooms and will have to make them up at a later time. These assessments are very important for your child and our school. Therefore, your cooperation is much appreciated!

Hamilton Elementary held its Math and Literacy Family Night on March 7th. Students and parents/guardians enjoyed time spent together while completing each learning station provided by the teachers and staff. What a wonderful way to teach the adults how to help their student at home! (More pictures can be found on our Facebook page).

Parents/Guardians…Immunization clinics will be offered on March 21st to all Marion County School students. This is a great time to get your upcoming 6th graders the required TDaP immunization. All students entering 6th grade in Alabama are required to get a booster shot (TDaP). This is also a great time for current 6th graders and above that have not had their TDaP vaccine already to get vaccinated. Other available vaccines are the MCV (meningococcal) and HPV (human papillomavirus). These are optional vaccines. Students not receiving required Alabama vaccines may provide the school with medical or religious exemption forms provided by the Marion County Health Department or their physician's office. Consent forms will be sent out this week and need to be returned to the school nurse.
