HES parents can pick up items that were purchased in the school wide fundraiser on Monday, November 14 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. The pickup location will be in front of the school.

Hamilton Elementary School’s 4th grade classes did a wonderful job at the H.E.S. Veterans Day program honoring our local veterans! Thank you for the hard work and heartfelt presentation! A special “thank you” to our guest speaker, Charlotte Hightower Elmore!
We also truly appreciate the fourth grade teachers and retired teacher Mrs. Linda Watson for providing this opportunity for our students to show appreciation to our local veterans!

We are continuing to have an issue at HES with some parents arriving on campus too early for car pickup. Parents should not arrive on campus for car pickup in the afternoons before 2:25 p.m. if this continues to happen, we will be closing and locking the gates on the parent drive off of HWY 17 and they won’t be unlocked until 2:25 p.m. each day. Please help by arriving at the stated time. Also, the restrooms on campus are not for parents to use while waiting in the car pickup line. Thanks!

Hamilton Elementary School is in need of a SPUR Special Education Aide with a scheduled start date of January 2, 2023. If you are interested in applying, you will need to apply on the SPUR Jobs App, and you will need to call HES to let the principal know that you are interested. This position requires the applicant to complete a background check that will include fingerprinting.

Reminder: HES parents should not be lining up in the afternoon car pickup line before 2:25 p.m. each day. Also, there is some paving work being done on both the bus and parent drives today. Please enter campus safely! Thanks!

Due to the threat of severe weather, all Marion County Schools will dismiss today (October 25th, 2022) at 11:00 a.m. Stay safe, everyone!

Students may wear their Halloween Costumes to Fall Fest on Friday as long as the costumes meet dress code guidelines. Also, parents may send treat bags for other students as long as the candy items are store bought and individually wrapped. Parents or others should not send cupcakes, cookies, and other type items to the school. We are not having Halloween class parties, just snack as part of our Fall Fest activities. Monday, October 31 will be a normal school day for us at HES. Thanks.

Due to the threat of rain over the coming weekend stretching into Monday, the HES Fall Fest has been rescheduled for Friday, 10/28. The Fall Fest is for students only. Parents will be invited to Spring Fling but not to Fall Fest. The Fall Fest serves as a teacher fundraiser event for them to raise money to purchase needed classroom items. The cost is $10 per child which will include a free snack. Students should bring the $10 by Thursday. Additional snacks will be sold if students choose to bring money to purchase them. Most items will be $1. Candy bars will be $2.

Mr. Gary McCarley, Mrs. Nancy Hallman, Dr. Kim Davis, and Mr. Josh Weatherly did a wonderful job presenting their Continuous Improvement Plans at today’s board meeting. We are proud of the progress of each of their schools.

Hamilton Elementary School will host its annual Title I Parents Meetings on Tuesday, September 27th at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Parents will need to attend only one of the meetings and the 2 p.m. meeting will also be offered via Zoom or Google Meet. Please email sloden.hes@mcbe.net on Monday afternoon for the link to the Zoom or Google meet session.

The HES AfterSchool Program for students in grades 1-3 (Reading Only) and for students in grade 4 (Math Only) will begin this afternoon and will run Monday thru Thursday each week until 4:30 p.m. All students need to be picked up promptly at 4:30 p.m. each day behind the school at the gym. The AfterSchool Program is by invitation only and its purpose is to address students’ deficiencies in reading or math. Thanks!

REMINDER: Monday, September 12th, is a Teacher Workday. There is no school for students on that day. Have a wonderful and safe long weekend!

Marion County Schools are proud of our very own Ann West for being named District 7 Superintendent of the Year, and she is a finalist for Alabama Superintendent of the Year. We appreciate the leadership of Mrs. West and how she represents Marion County on the district and state level.

September is Attendance Awareness Month. Starting September 7th, students who have perfect attendance (no checkouts, tardies, or absences) from 9/7 through 9/30 will be entered into a drawing at each school to win $100!!!

Since students do not attend school on September 12th due to a Teacher PD day, the start of the AfterSchool Program will be on Tuesday, September 13 instead of on Monday, September 12. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks.

The HES AfterSchool Program has been delayed until Monday, September 12. In order to attend the AfterSchool Program, a child has to be invited based on academic criteria set by the District. If your child received a “pink-colored” letter and you want him/her to attend, please return the letter to your child’s teacher with the Yes box checked. We need a decision asap because we have to schedule teachers for the classes. Also, the students who attend will do so each Monday thru Thursday and will need to be picked up promptly at 4:30 p.m. each day. Thank you.

All Marion County Schools will be closed this Monday, September 5th, 2022.
Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!
