📚In celebration of Read Across HMS, we will introduce a daily masked reader event. Each teacher will receive a video featuring the masked 🎭reader to present to their homeroom class. Every student is required to cast their vote🗳️ on a Google form, guessing the identity of the masked reader. The student who accumulates the highest number of correct guesses throughout the week will be awarded a prize. Best of luck!🍀
Due to sickness within our cast and crew, the opening of Aladdin Jr. to the public will be Wednesday, February 26 at 7:30. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but please know that was unavoidable. Join us for a special event, Books 📚and Bites 🥨for Babies, 👶in honor of Read Across HMS. 🎉We kindly ask you to donate a new or gently used children's book, 📕 along with snacks such as crackers, nuts, granola bars, and more. These contributions will be given to infants and families in the NICU at Tupelo Hospital. 📕Reading to babies 👶is essential for their development, and these books 📚will greatly benefit the NICU infants. The snacks collected will provide comfort to families 🧑🧑🧒spending time with their little ones in the NICU. Thank you for your generosity. ❤️

Show Week is here! It's "A Whole New World" at HMS as students are making final preparations for our spring production, Aladdin Jr.! Mark your calendars for this fun, feel-good family show filled with great characters, nostalgic songs, and high-octane choreography. Shows are February 24-28, with public performances on Tuesday, February 25; Thursday, February 27; and Friday, February 28. All evening performances are at 7:30 p.m. at the Bevill State Conference Center in Hamilton, AL. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets will be available at the venue beginning at 6:00 p.m. each evening. Don't miss this fantastic show! Due to a Winter Weather Advisory, ALL Marion County Schools will be closed tomorrow, February 19th.
February 15th is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. HMS is proud and thankful for our SRO, Officer Scottie Belue. Officer Belue goes above and beyond to protect our students, faculty, and staff. He has developed positive relationships with everyone and is also a great mentor and role model for students. We appreciate you, Officer Belue!!! Thank you!!!
Be advised that the phone at HMS is still not working. Apparently, there is a major outage of landlines over several counties. We will accept Valentine’s deliveries until 1:00. No balloons or glass allowed on the bus. Have a great Friday!

Deliveries for Valentine's Day to HMS: All deliveries should be made no later than 1:00 p.m. to allow us time to get items to students. When selecting gifts to send to school, please keep in mind that students will be responsible for carrying their own items. All Marion County Schools will be closed Monday, January 20, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Tomorrow, January 13th, all Marion County Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay. All buses will run approximately 2 hours later than normal, and classes will begin 2 hours later than usual. This will allow shaded areas more time to clear before school in the morning. Be safe!
