Ms. Cartmell was with PHS as a Special Education Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year, and we couldn’t be happier to have her back. With 21 years of experience in education, she brings a wealth of knowledge, unwavering dedication, and a deep commitment to helping every student reach their full potential.

Sign up for summer school today at the PHS office! All classes will be virtual and will begin tomorrow, June 2. The cost is $200 per class. Additional information is available when you sign up.

This week, students from our senior class traveled to Washington DC and New York City via Amtrak train. In Washington DC, they visited Arlington National Cemetery, visited the US Capitol building, and saw the monuments. In NYC, they visited the American Museum of Natural History, One World Observatory, 9/11 Memorial & Museum, and the Statue of Liberty. They also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and attended Stranger Things on Broadway. The Senior Trip is an excellent opportunity to teach our small town students about history and civic awareness but also adaptability and big possibilities!

Friday, Phillips High School students in grades 7th–9th had an exciting opportunity to step inside the future of workforce training with the ACCS Simulator Truck!
Students explored interactive simulators from the Alabama Community College System Innovation Center, experiencing real-world scenarios in careers like construction, transportation, agriculture, and emergency services. From operating equipment to making quick decisions in realistic environments, these simulations brought career pathways to life in a fun and engaging way.
This innovative program is part of the Skills for Success initiative—designed to connect students with meaningful career opportunities while building essential skills like focus, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Sports physicals will be held Wednesday, May 6th at 8:00 AM in the Phillips High School Gym for students in grades 6-11.
✅ Important: Make sure to turn in your completed physical form to Coach Gillum by May 5th.
Don’t wait until the last minute—get your forms in and be ready for the upcoming sports season!

⭐️Celebrating 100 Years ⭐️
On April 16, 1926 the Phillips family donated the land for the current location of our school. This year, we proudly honor a century of tradition, growth, and unforgettable memories. Centennial t-shirts will go on sale next week. Help us celebrate 100 years of PHS!
IMPORTANT REQUIRED MEETING!
Parents/Guardians and Students in Current Grades 9-11: There will be a meeting on Monday, April 20th at 5:30 pm in the Lunchroom. This will be the opportunity to discuss graduation pathways and schedules for the upcoming school year. Details for attending the new Marion County Career Academy will be provided. It is vital that a parent and their student attend this meeting.
All Marion County Schools' students will dismiss 1/2 day tomorrow, April 15, for a professional development/teacher workday. Buses will run at 11:30.
FFA students will be set up in front of the school today to kick off our annual plant sale. Stop by to see us before 2:00 pm!
On March 10, 2026 our JAG Chapter attended the Alabama State Career Development Conference which was held at the BJCC in Birmingham, AL. While in attendance, our students competed in four competitive events, attended leadership development workshops, and interacted with students from various JAG chapters in Alabama. Phillips High School was awarded 1st place in the most “Outstanding Chapter” for the state of Alabama.
All Marion County Schools will be closed March 23-27 for Spring Break. Have fun and stay safe!
