Temperatures this weekend are expected to be well below freezing. The Bobby Bishop Center in town will be open from noon Thursday through noon on Monday as a temporary warming station in case of emergency heat outage. Stay warm!

Allison Finch in Mrs. Harris’ 4th grade class is rocking her math class. She has mastered the Xtra Math program (all addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts in under 6 seconds). She has also solved 1,000 facts on Reflex Math. Way to go, Allison!



Four State Trooper posts across north AL were called this morning to say there were active shooters. We believe it is the same hoax that happened a couple of weeks ago.
Nothing has been mentioned specifically about our school but we are practicing our lockdown protocol just to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Please do not be alarmed. We just wanted everyone to know we are aware of posts circulating social media and are prepared.

Due to the lack of participants, we will be cancelling the Harvest Queen Pageant. We will be planning for another pageant in the spring. We apologize for any inconvenience and will be returning any registration fees that have been paid. Thank you!

The Kindergarten field trip to the pumpkin patch tomorrow has been rescheduled to Nov. 4th due to the possibility of rain/severe weather.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week! Say no to drugs by dressing up each day!


Tuesday will be the last chance to sign up for the Harvest Queen Pageant taking place next Friday (Oct. 28th) at 6 p.m. in the Attie Fleming Building. Pageant is for girls age 1-13. They do not have to go to school at Phillips. We will have practice on Tuesday night from 5-7 p.m. Girls may sign up at the practice. Age groups may be adjusted based on the number of participants. If you need a form, please notify the elementary office at 205-486-5062. Forms can be picked up or sent home with a child. Thank you!

Mr. Gary McCarley, Mrs. Nancy Hallman, Dr. Kim Davis, and Mr. Josh Weatherly did a wonderful job presenting their Continuous Improvement Plans at today’s board meeting. We are proud of the progress of each of their schools.


🎸Marion County Schools are getting ready to ROCK Flu shots! Consent forms are being sent home this week or can be picked up from your school nurse. Flu shots will be given on October 24th by Health Heros. Consent forms must be turned into your school nurse.🎸


Mrs. Harris’s 4th graders enjoyed a Mystery Science lesson about spiders native to North America. 🕷
