Welcome back to school! We would like to thank all of our law enforcement throughout the county for helping our students arrive safely every day!

During morning unloading of car riders, 1st grade thru 4th grade students may be unloaded in the front if and only if they have a sibling that is in either Pre K or Kindergarten and that child is being unloaded. Thank you!

Reminder: HES students who are car riders will be dropped off in the mornings and picked up in the afternoons at the following locations during the stated times: Students in Pre K and Kindergarten will be dropped off in front of the school each morning between 7:25 am and 7:45 am. Students in grades 1 thru 4 will be dropped off in the back behind the lunchroom each morning between 7:25 am and 7:45 am. Anyone arriving after 7:45 am must be checked in through the school’s office. In the afternoons, parents should arrive on campus no earlier than 2:30 pm for pickup of K-4 car riders in the back at the front of the gym. Students will be called to start loading cars at 2:50 pm each day.

School will resume for Marion County students tomorrow, August 9th, and motorists will be sharing the road with school buses once again. Please allow additional time in your daily commute to accommodate more traffic, including buses, on the roadways. Our Transportation Department operates with our children’s safety as its number one priority. Please help them keep our children safe by keeping a watchful eye for school buses and being mindful of the law which pertains to them.

HES parents are asked to bring any medications that their child will be taking during school hours with them to Open House tomorrow between 3 pm and 6 pm and check the medications in with the school nurse. Thank you.

Hamilton Elementary School has two positions posted with SPUR. One is for a full-time nurse with hours to work each day being from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm. The other position is for a part-time special education aide with hours to work each day being from 7:30 am until 12:30 pm. Persons interested in applying for either of these positions should complete an online application with SPUR and then call Gary McCarley, Principal at 205-921-2145 to let him know of your interest.

Just a reminder that all students entering 6th grade are required to have an up-to-date immunization record on file. Sixth grade students will need the TDaP booster. Please call your physician, health department, or pharmacy for assistance.

Hamilton Elementary School has a Janitor position open. It is 212 days per year with State Health Insurance and Retirement. For more information, please contact the school at 205-921-2145. Deadline to apply is August 2nd.

Even though we stay out of controversial sports rivalries, we found it amazing that Brazil's President Bolsonaro sported the Alabama cap that he was gifted by our very own 4th Grader, Vincent Colburn of Hamilton Elementary School!

A special thank you goes out to the Mayor and City Council of Hamilton for providing funds for HES to use in order to buy back-to-school supplies for our students. Through their leadership and generosity, along with using some of our Alcohol Tax Monies, we were able to significantly reduce the number of items that parents will have to provide for their children. Some of the items purchased by HES for all students include binders, glue sticks, pencils, paper, and Kleenex. Thank you Mayor and City Council!!!

Important Free and Reduced Meals Info for School Year 2022-2023

Attention HES parents and guardians, students have been assigned to teachers for the 2022-23 school-year and teachers will be contacting parents after they pick up their lists from the school. Due to some teachers being out of town, not all of them have picked up their lists which may be the reason you have not been contacted yet. Please do not call the school concerning your child’s class assignment. Your child’s teacher will be contacting you once she/he picks up the class list. Thank you for your patience!

We have open Special Education Teacher positions at Hamilton Elem. & Phillips High. There is also an opening for a Speech Teacher for Hackleburg and Phillips Schools, & a Counselor for Brilliant Schools. See & apply for all certified openings on the Teach in Alabama website.
