The Brilliant Alumni Association meeting will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 in the Brilliant High School gym. The hospitality room will open at 1:00 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m.
REMINDER: We are happy to announce for the 2024-2025 school year: FREE LUNCH AND BREAKFAST FOR ALL STUDENTS! NO CHARGE! No free or reduced applications will be needed from parents this school year. No action is required by parents for students to eat free. Please note the first complete meal is free, however extra plates or items must be purchased. All visiting children, adults, and employees will be required to pay for meals. www.paypams.com is still available for anyone that wishes to add money to his or her child(ren)'s accounts. School will resume for Marion County students on Wednesday, August 7th, and motorists will be sharing the road with school buses once again. Please allow additional time in your daily commute to accommodate more traffic, including buses, on the roadways. Our Transportation Department operates with our children’s safety as its number one priority. Please help them keep our children safe by keeping a watchful eye for school buses and being mindful of the law which pertains to them.
Brilliant School Open House August 5, 2024 We will hold parent meetings at each campus to introduce new teachers, review Marion County policies and changes occurring at Brilliant High School. Following each parent meeting parents and students will be go to their home room. Middle School and High School students will then have the opportunity to purchase lockers and parking spaces. Just a reminder that pictures for all fall sports are tomorrow on the high school campus! Volleyball pictures will start at 8am followed by football, cheer, and band at 9am. Also, senior banner pictures will be taken later that day at 6pm!
We would like to welcome our new part time middle school English teacher!
My name is Carlee Holland, I graduated in August of 2023 with a Masters in English from Jacksonville State University. This will be my first year teaching, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to do it at Brilliant. I moved to Marion County for the first time in my late teen years before going to college, and I am happy to be settling into what I hope is a long and fulfilling career back in the place I’ve always considered home.

"My name is Brittany Brown. I will be the Collaborative Education teacher for Brilliant Middle and High School. I am also helping with the band program. I graduated from the University of Montevallo and currently working on higher certification with the University of West Alabama. Just a reminder, on Tuesday July 30th, we are having senior pictures on the high school campus at 9am. Parents should have got a letter or email on what time your kids scheduled picture appt was. Just a reminder that Summer Honors Reading will be due August 2nd. Journals and borrowed books may be turned in to the office. Please remind students that this is a requirement to maintain a Honors level diploma. Failure to do so will result in student losing Honors diploma track.

The Brilliant Alumni Association partnered with the Brilliant Basketball Teams to host a free basketball clinic for any student that attends Brilliant in Kindergarten-6th grade on Monday, July 22nd from 2-4 PM at the Brilliant High School Gymnasium. A statement from Ms. Olivia Rizzo
"I am a recent graduate of Athens State University with a degree in biology. While at Athens, I was involved with several science clubs and organizations and had the opportunity to participate in genetics research. I was also employed by Athens State as a natural sciences tutor. Prior to attending Athens State, I graduated from Bevill State Community College. In addition to my academic pursuits, I enjoy hiking, traveling, and reading. I am excited to join the faculty of Brilliant High School!"
Brilliant School would like to welcome Coach Ben Johnson as the new math teacher and head boys basketball coach! Coach Johnson has been teaching high school math for 7 years. He has also been coaching varsity basketball for 5 years. In his most recent year, Coach Johnson led the Lynn varsity boys to the regional tournament at Hanceville, first time in school history. We are excited to have Coach Ben Johnson at Brilliant! Here is a statement from Coach Johnson. "I attended Marion County High School where I graduated in 2012. I graduated from Athens State University in 2017 with a degree in Secondary Math Education. My wife and I reside in Guin with our two kiddos Sawyer (3) and Tatum (2). In my free time, I enjoy being with my family, fishing, golfing, and especially love all things basketball. My family and I are so excited to be welcomed into the Brilliant Tiger family and cannot wait to get started. Go Tigers!"
