During today’s Board of Education meeting, our school counselors were proudly recognized for their dedication and service to our district. This group plays an essential role in supporting students’ academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and college and career readiness. They wear many hats each day—advocate, mentor, problem-solver, encourager, and leader—often working behind the scenes to ensure every student has the support needed to succeed. We are deeply grateful for their unwavering commitment, compassion, and service to our students and schools. Thank you to our outstanding school counselors for the difference you make every single day! During today’s board meeting, our Marion County Career Coaches were recognized for their outstanding dedication and service. These ladies work tirelessly as liaisons between education and industry, helping students identify career goals, explore the 16 career clusters, and develop meaningful postsecondary plans. They provide resume assistance, conduct mock interviews, facilitate dual enrollment opportunities, organize job shadowing experiences, and connect students with local employers. We are truly grateful for their commitment to preparing our students for success beyond graduation and appreciate the important work they do each day. Pictured with our Superintendent, Board Members, and the Career Coaches’ direct supervisor, Josh Weatherly, are (from left to right): Carmin Nichols-HHS & HMS, Lindsey Oliver-HCHS & PHS, and Oakley Durham-BHS & MCHS.
