American Education Week - celebrating the power of education and thanking the educators and staff who do so much to make our schools the cornerstone of our communities and future.
No one should have to worry about whether they will have food on their plate or a roof over their head. But the reality is that hunger and homelessness are widespread problems that affect far too many people. As a society, we have the resources and knowledge to end hunger and homelessness — we just need the collective will to make these ideas a reality.

Hackleburg FFA President Blaine McDuffa and Vice President Ana Kathrine Whisnant are representing Marion County and the ALFA Youth Leadership Conference at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana. Only 96 students from the entire state were chosen to attend this two day event that is sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation. Congratulations Blaine and AK!
Hackleburg High School FCCLA had a great time at the FCCLA National Fall Conference in Ohio this past weekend. Ana Kathrine Whisnant was the only person to compete from Alabama and she took 1st place in the nation in Impromptu Speaking Level 2. We’re so proud of her and all the officers of the Hackleburg FCCLA.

Local students representing Marion County School System’s Dual Enrollment Welding and Winfield City High students participated in the Welding competition at Haleyville Center of Technology (Battle of the Skills) Thursday. All Marion County Schools will be closed tomorrow, November 11th, 2022, in observance of Veterans Day.
On Wednesday, November 9th, Mrs. Fikes' Senior English classes dressed up as characters from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and walked the Hamilton High School halls while reciting the Prologue.
Guin Elementary School honored local veterans during their Veterans Day program today.
Hamilton Elementary School’s 4th grade classes did a wonderful job at the H.E.S. Veterans Day program honoring our local veterans! Thank you for the hard work and heartfelt presentation! A special “thank you” to our guest speaker, Charlotte Hightower Elmore!
We also truly appreciate the fourth grade teachers and retired teacher Mrs. Linda Watson for providing this opportunity for our students to show appreciation to our local veterans!
MJ had a great first day yesterday! All the counselors showed up for some “counseling” before their meeting.
Hamilton Middle School will welcome a new staff member on Monday! Mary Jane (MJ for short) will be serving as a school facility dog. MJ is a 3 year-old Yellow Lab from Service Dogs Alabama in Montgomery. We are super excited to see her make some “paw-sitive” changes in our school. Welcome MJ!

Juniors representing all of the high schools in Marion and Winston Counties met today for their Marion Winston Youth Leadership Orientation.
Hamilton High Health Science/HOSA- Dalton Frederick, Hamilton alumni, came and spoke to Mrs. Humphres’ classes about how to become a Family Physician & important college/resume tips. They really enjoyed learning how to suture from him. Dalton is a 3rd year med student at UAB.
