Hackleburg Elementary School Principal, Mary Kennedy, had a special celebration for her teachers Monday as they celebrate being chosen as an ARI Spotlight of Reading School.
Mrs. Katherine Parham, 6th grade teacher, and Mrs. Ginger Eatman, SNAP-Ed Educator, were selected to attend Ag in the Classroom this summer. Alabama Agriculture in the Classroom is an interdisciplinary educational program that promotes Ag literacy for students in all grade levels K-12. Mrs. Parham and Mrs. Eatman will use this information in working with classes at Brilliant school gardens and science classes, as well as utilizing the greenhouse and outdoor classroom when they are installed.
Thanks to the Alabama Department of Education EL (English Language Learner) Coaches Robin Stutts and Miguelina Quinones-Mason for coming and providing effective EL training. School will resume for Marion County students tomorrow, August 9th, and motorists will be sharing the road with school buses once again. Please allow additional time in your daily commute to accommodate more traffic, including buses, on the roadways. Our Transportation Department operates with our children’s safety as its number one priority. Please help them keep our children safe by keeping a watchful eye for school buses and being mindful of the law which pertains to them.
Our amazing MCBE reading specialists (Amie Cantrell, Mary Dee Emerson, Angie Jeffreys, Emily Mims, and Rachel Streetman) and AMSTI state math specialist, Gretchen Webb, led our new k-6 teachers on an extensive overview of reading programs and math resources. Maybe we’re partial, but we have the best!!!

Just a reminder that all students entering 6th grade are required to have an up-to-date immunization record on file. Sixth grade students will need the TDaP booster. Please call your physician, health department, or pharmacy for assistance.
Hamilton Elementary School has a Janitor position open. It is 212 days per year with State Health Insurance and Retirement. For more information, please contact the school at 205-921-2145. Deadline to apply is August 2nd.
Even though we stay out of controversial sports rivalries, we found it amazing that Brazil's President Bolsonaro sported the Alabama cap that he was gifted by our very own 4th Grader, Vincent Colburn of Hamilton Elementary School!

Congratulations to Blaine McDuffa, Hackleburg High School's FFA President, for winning the ”Work Horse Award” at the 2022 University of Tennessee Livestock Judging Camp. This award goes to the hardest working individual in camp who put in the most effort to improve on their judging and reasons skills. The award is voted on by all of the camp counselors. There were students at camp from Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, West Virginia, and Alabama. Shown with Blaine in the photograph is Abigayle Pollock (Head Livestock Judging Coach for the University of Tennessee). Way to go, Blaine!

Hamilton HOSA- Good luck this week to our Hamilton High School and Hamilton Middle School HOSA Chapters at HOSA International Leadership Conference in Nashville, where they will be competing against the top HOSA students from around the world.
